Newsfrom news.xidian.edu.cn (Correspondent: Hou Peng) The 36th Shaanxi Province College Swimming Championship, sponsored byEducation Department of ShaanxiProvincial Governmentand undertaken by Students P.E. Association of Shaanxi Province and XianyangVocational Technical College, was held in the natatorium of XianyangVocational Technical College from June 10 to 11. Nearly 300 people from 18 colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province, including Xi’an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xidian University, and Xi’an Physical Education University, participated in the competition. In the competition, XDU won 20 gold medals, 8 silvermedals,1 bronze medal andtop eightranksin four events, breaking four records, and ranked first in the total score of men’s team.In addition,Coach Hou Peng was rated as an Excellent Coach. Zhu Zichen and Zhang Meng, freshmen of theSchool ofEconomics& Management, were selected as the excellent athletes of this competition.

It is reported that during the preparation for thecompetition, the members ofthe swimming team adhered to the high-intensity and high-demand training mode,improved their own skill level, and enhanced the team cohesion and tacit understandingin face of the arduous journey back and forth. In the competition, they fully demonstrated the indomitable and hard-working demeanor of the students of XDU, and contributed to the vigorous sports development oftheschool. This outstanding achievement oftheswimmingteam of XDU made inthis championship also represented the important achievement ofXDU’s attaching great importance to sports.The swimming team will strive for further improvement in the future training and competition in order to repay the school leaders’ care, training and support for the swimming team!
