(Correspondent: Zhang Ying) In order to further improve campus football teacher quality and coaching level and drive university football course construction and improvement of competition level, the First National Campus Football Teaching and Coaching Skill Competition for University PE Teachers sponsored by National Steering Committee for National University PE Teaching and undertaken by Nanjing University was convened in Nanjing University at the end of November. Zhang Long, a teacher of Sports Department, Xidian University, won the Third Prize for Course Teaching Group among about 200 participating football teachers.

As Chinese government had attached high importance to football, high attention was paid to the first competition by national universities and colleges. PE teachers of 173 universities and colleges from 28 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions, including Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, attended the Teaching and Coaching Skill Competition. The Competition included online review and field test, in which online review program included teaching (coaching) design and teaching (coaching) practice, while field test included physical fitness and specific physical fitness, such as rope skipping, juggling, dribbling and shot, pass, and shuttle run. Teacher Zhang Long overcame limited preparatory conditions and unfavorable factors based on professional teaching abilities, stably played football with many young competitors, and finally won the Third Prize for Course Teaching Group in the Competition. After the Competition, Teacher Zhang Long mentioned that he gained a lot after communicating with many remarkable and excellent teachers across China and would constantly improve his professional attainments and teaching skills in the future so as to achieve better results in future competitions.
